Glass must satisfy functions of environmental protection and
security.
Starting with annealed float glass, the basis for production,
special processes are applied to obtain opaque effects and
particular levels of light transmission and resistance
to thermal shock and wind pressure.
When the requested resistance exceeds normal values,
laminated sheet glass is used.
Laminated glass is composed of two or more sheets of float
glass with a film of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) of varying thickness
between them, or plastic resins or sheet polycarbonate.
Fireproof glazing made in compliance with applicable standards
can be retinated, laminated or insulated, or can contain borosilicate.
